INKSIGNUM

idea

INKSIGNUM is an innovative art project that merges the art of tattooing with porcelain, creating original works that become applied art. Our aim is to push beyond the boundaries of traditional tattooing by using porcelain as a medium to bring tattoo artists’ unique visions to life.

Each INKSIGNUM project is a limited-edition collection inspired by mythology, art, history, culture, and nature. Tattoo artists create these distinctive designs, which we then transfer onto a variety of porcelain forms - plates, cups, vases, and platters - using traditional craftsmanship. For each artist, the project is a personal narrative, with the creative process as an integral part of the work - from concept and design to the intricate execution with ink and needle. For our ceramic studio, every project is a challenge: a careful selection of form, color palette, and gilding techniques to create a piece that is both unique and timeless.

The INKSIGNUM style reinterprets familiar symbols through the aesthetic of contemporary tattoo masters, forming new pantheons on porcelain. With each new project, we are building a global community of creators who give new life to forgotten and forbidden themes, moving beyond conventional frameworks.

"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who
could not hear the music."

Friedrich Nietzsche.

Our exhibitions are a dialogue between the art of tattoo and the mainstream of contemporary art - a dialogue often grounded in controversy and provocation. They are designed to attract not only tattoo enthusiasts, but also art professionals, collectors, designers - anyone seeking new experiences within the landscape of contemporary aesthetics. By entering galleries and cultural spaces, we aim to demonstrate that tattooing has become a fully-fledged, autonomous art form - alive, relevant, and significant both aesthetically and sociologically: a medium of identity, social critique, personal narrative, and evolving cultural codes.

INKSIGNUM exhibitions will take place at tattoo conventions as well as in art galleries and cultural venues, gradually expanding into international markets. We are open to collaborations with event organizers, curators, and designers who wish to introduce bold, forward-thinking creations into their spaces.

Piotr Grzymowski
CEO & Founder

A designer, ceramicist, and creator of concepts that merge contemporary art with the craft of porcelain. With over twenty years of experience designing for Porcelana Śląska and Porcelana Bogucice, he has developed more than one hundred original projects.

He designed and oversaw the production of a porcelain collection inspired by Polish painters from the collection of the National Museum in Kraków, featuring interpretations of works by artists such as Stanisław Wyspiański, Władysław Podkowiński, and Jacek Malczewski.

He also co-created the Musical Collection for Porcelana Śląska, with his designs consulted by Krzysztof Penderecki and Wojciech Kilar. The collection was further enriched with motifs dedicated to composers including Stanisław Moniuszko, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, and Witold Lutosławski.

This experience became the foundation for establishing his own studio, Studio Ceramika-one of the few workshops that carries out all stages of production in-house. The studio has delivered projects for institutions such as the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland, the National Museums in Warsaw and Kraków, and the Silesian Museum. Studio Ceramika has also collaborated with numerous international brands, including Ferrari, Lavazza, Mercedes, Siemens, and Lurpak.

He is currently developing INKSIGNUM-an initiative that brings together tattoo art and collectible porcelain. The project invites artists with distinctive styles and original techniques, creating a platform for reinterpreting mythology, symbolism, and contemporary iconography through the medium of porcelain. The aim is to establish a new artistic language in which traditional craftsmanship becomes a vehicle for contemporary visual culture.
